“Bumi” means “earth,” while “nila” refers to “indigo” or “blue.”

The deep sapphire tones evoke water and are blended with taupe hues to suggest the meeting of sea and land. Volcanic sand adds texture to the surface.

Created alongside Nila Tirta, the two works differ in appearance but share a connected process.
