Nila Tirta
2026
mixed media on canvas
120x100 cm
“Nila Tirta” is formed from the Indonesian words for “blue/indigo” (nila) and “water” (tirta), referring to sacred water.
This piece is directly inspired by Bali’s holy waters, which play an important role in daily life and ceremonies. I focused on expressing this connection through layered colour and texture.
Volcanic sand was used to build the surface. The work developed alongside Bumi Nila, and although they differ, both pieces relate to water and were created through a similar process.
