Born from instinct rather than intention, Sutra emerged layer by layer without a sketch or plan. Balinese coffee grounds are worked into the red acrylic surface, grounding the piece in the island’s textures and quiet rituals. A natural break in the composition revealed itself, later defined with gold leaf that settles into the landscape like a line of clarity: a thread cutting through the unknown. Named after the Sanskrit word for “thread,” Sutra is a meditation on intuition, allowing the artwork to reveal its own meaning over time.
