Evening, Muted is built through multiple layers of acrylic paint, oil pastel, and textured materials including local sand and coffee grounds. Each layer is applied and partially removed, creating a surface with significant depth. Colour is introduced in stages and veiled with soft grey tones. Abrasion and sanding expose earlier layers, allowing underlying warmth to remain visible in select areas.

The surface shifts with changing light, moving between opacity and reveal. The work is best experienced in a well-lit environment, where natural light brings out its full range of colour and texture.
