“Aurum” is the Latin word for gold.

This work went through many stages, with layers added and removed until it finally felt right. I introduced a large golden form, then softened the surrounding surface to keep it present but not dominant.

I used local sand and soil, drawing from the muted, earthy shades of Bali’s empty rice paddies. Their calm, water-like stillness inspired the restrained surface, allowing the gold to emerge gently.
